Claire Modelling my Lilac Scarf
Claire Modelling my Lilac Scarf

This scarf is cosy and unique.

It started out as lots of different squares the same size. I wanted to create different textures on each square using the same colour so the textures would stand out. Some of the squares I knitted. I used stocking stitch, moss stitch, basket weave, various widths of rib stitch, and one that looks bobbly which I cannot remember the name of.  I also made other squares using various crochet stitches. Some of the crochet patterns have lines and others are variations on the granny square theme.

After I sewed them together in a long line I crocheted a slightly ruffled border around the edge. Then I created two different (but similar) free-form crochet motifs which I attached to the last-but-one end square.

Part of the textured free-form crochet motif at the end.

So the whole thing is textury (did I just make that word up?), lilacy, (another new word) warm, cosy and interesting.

It’s for sale in my Etsy Shop Patricia Hope
